New environment, new domain, and new possibilities
app.solar has matured as a product, moved to its own codebase, and gained a new domain for the international launch.
app.solar started as a simplified version of the internal system we use at Solar Energy Quality. That meant app.solar and Solar Energy Quality shared a codebase, which made some things easier and others harder. app.solar has now reached a point where the codebases are different enough to justify separating them. That separation happened over the weekend, and app.solar now runs independently from the previous server, with some integration to Solar Energy Quality.
We also used the move to do maintenance work and migrate app.solar to a new database, which gives us better opportunities to make the product faster. During a transition period, some areas may feel slower, but we will continue investigating and improving them. In our testing, we have mostly seen the opposite.
This also means we have temporarily removed a couple of features, specifically ordering internal inspections and ordering QR codes. These will likely return, or the functionality will be delivered in a new way or a different place.
The environment changes also make it easier for us to expand app.solar, and we will soon create an API for integrations. If you want a specific integration, email us at info@app.solar.
We also have a new domain for app.solar as part of our preparations for a broader international launch. The English brand is app.solar.
